H A P P Y S U N D A Y
This was supposed to go up on Friday but unfortunately life gets difficult and in the way and my blog, much to my disappointment, has to come second. Anyway, welcome to the first of many make up and beauty posts. Ok, yes a lot of people do make up and beauty posts but I fancied a bit of the action as lately I’ve got more into make up and playing around with my face. That sounds very strange but you all know what I mean. So this is going to be my first of many posts in the little beauty section of my blog. In the section of my notebook where I draft all my posts before actually writing them up on my laptop I put a cheeky little heart, because y’know this is a little bit girly and of a fresh new section and I want it to be fun!!
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. I love this quote, its a real motivator for me to get my arse into gear and prepare my lunches for the week or to prep for my meetings/coffee mornings and even to draft some future blog posts before the day they’re meant to go live, defiatly one I need to start to do more often. This quote doesn’t just apply to preparing your weekly meals or prepping for meetings, it should also apply to your makeup routine. A good primper is like a well fitted bra. It doesn’t irritate you through out the day, it stays in place and makes the rest of your make up look flawless. For me, my favourite right now is just the simple Aloe moisturizing lotion, its lightweight but does exactly what it should do, and not just for a few seconds once you’ve first applied it, it continues to keep my skin hydrated through out the day even underneath all the foundation contour creams and bronzers oh and not forgetting the highlighter. I may wear a little more makeup then your avarage chick.
“Because you know I’m all about that base, ‘Bout that base, no trouble” see what I did there, ay’, not just a pretty face. I’m currently cracking up over my little play on words. Yes I’m guilty of loving a little bit of Megan Trainer every now and then. But she is right y’know, it is all about that “Bass” but maybe not the “bass” she’s refering to, I’m talking about the base of my make up routine. I believe that finding the right foundation is like finding the perfect partner, you’re addicted and you just can’t seem to let go or even stray to another foudation, you’ve tried others but nothing compares. For years now I can’t seem to tear myself away from MAC studio fix foundation. It’s only let me down a couple of times but all in all it’s done me well, from an everyday look to a girly night out.
Practice makes perfect when it comes to the highlight and contouring game. I’m a newbie so please no judgmental Julies! I know I’m no make up artisit or even as good as some of the beautiful make up vloggers but I do give the whole contouring thing a good go. My favourite contour palettes have to be the Kat Von D and the Anastasia palette. Both equally as good, I tend to mix it up and use the Anastasia light cremes for doing my highlighting then use the Kat Von D palette for the contour. Even though these palettes are both pretty incred’ I believe having the right brushes is very important. Now I’m not going to blame my tools if my face ends up looking like I’m about to step out onto a drag queen cat walk but I do believe you need a little more then your fingers for this part. I love my new 32 piece kabuki make up brush set, its the perfect starter kit to play around with some new looks.
Look into my eyes and you’ll see your future, LOL I WISH! No I’m not revieling that I’m actually a witch from Hogwarts. I’ve always thought my eyes along with my lips and of course my Beyonce booty, almost, are my best features. Oh would you look at that I atually said out loud what I like about myself, and I’M NOT about to appologise for it. I think us ladies should do it more often tbh. Anyway, as my eyes are one of my favourite features I like to make them stand out. I’m going to let you in on a little secret of mine for the old eyeliner flick. Sellotape. Yep thats right, I do mean the thing you loathed during the Christmas holidays but believe me when I say my eyeliner flicks would look like a child has done it if it wasn’t for my good old friend sellotape. Ok they’re still not perfect but as I said I’m no make up artist and practice makes perfect. My eyes would not be complete without a little eyeshadow. For my everyday look I try and stick to the saying less is more and use subtle golden tones. They just add a little something extra.
Eyebrows on FLEEEEEK! My eyebrows are far from it but the past year I’ve realised that your eyebrows are so important. Thanks to Cara Delevingne, gone are the days of plucking your eyebrows until they are pencil thin. My god who looks back at old pictures and thinks why didn’t I listen to my mother when she said “don’t touch your eyebrows”, oh well we all learn from mitakes. So when it comes to eyebrows I tend to take a little bit more care over them, I’m grateful to have quite naturally thick eyebrows however they do grow as if someone is watering them daily! I don’t know where I would be without my lovely threading ladies, they always make my eyebrows look pretty awesome that I only have to top them up with a little bit of Benifit brow pencil.
Hello lucious lips, I’ve not seen you in a while.I love a bit of lippy and wear it pretty much every day. Well thats a little ovbious Hols, you’re writing an everyday make up post. Lipstick is more then just a cosmetic item, its a friend in time of need. It’s a resuce remady when you’re having a bad make up day. Right now I can’t get enough of Sonya skin care range by Forever and NYX. Both very differnt lippies but both equally as lucious. The Sonya lipsticks moisturizes your lips as well as making them look super hot! The NYX matte effect lipsticks are pretty incred’ tbh. You only need to apply them once or twice through out the day and have a fabulous range of colours which I love. However the only fault in NYX matte effect is that they can make your lips feel quite dry, a price to pay for sassy ass looking lips.
