Halloween Party Prepping

Halloween Party Prepping

With only five days to go or two if your like me and celebrating Halloween all weekend, I’m a bit late on delivering this post but I must say there’s nothing like a sprint to the finish line with a last minute party prepping.

I love any type of festive season, but Halloween is a great excuse to get to know your inner child. I know mine pretty well, I love all things craft, dressing up and generally being silly. My boyfriend is even more in touch with his inner child, and loves to play pranks, mainly on me which make me almost pee my pants sometimes cry but at the same time find equally amusing. He also gets so into his dress up that he actually shaved his head to look like Heisenberg out of breaking bad, hopefully to never be done again as he looked terrifying. So Halloween is a brilliant excuse to rope our friends into being big kids with us.

This year we have decided to throw a Halloween party, so of course I’ve been on Pintrest almost every night finding awesome ideas to make our flat as spooky as possible. With out giving too much away, as I’d quite like to keep the overall look of our flat a bit of a surprise for the night, I’m going to let you in on how I prepared for the party.

Pound land is your friend.

When I say the words pound land you might immediately think “tacky”,”cheap”,”old”,”bad quality”, but don’t knock it too soon. Pound land is great for those bits and pieces that are tacky, because when it comes to Halloween you’ve got to include a bit of tack, so why bother paying four times the price just to say you got it at John Lewis, when you can get it at pound land for… well a pound. A Halloween party wouldn’t be complete without fake cobwebs, spooky paper lanterns, fairy nights and fake spiders.

Ok so this post is really about how to throw a Halloween party without making your bank account bleed. Pintrest is full of fabulous D.I.Y decoration ideas. I’ve taken a few of the ideas from Pintrest and put my own spin on it, like the “BOO!” sign, instead of using glitter and hanging it vertically I decided to use small fairy lights. I decided to have a bit of a DIY night and invited my friend over to help, and after a few questionable techniques on how we would make an old sheet look like something out of chainsaw massacre, we decided to just get seriously messy with some PVA glue and food colouring.

Spooky Snacks and Devilish Drinks

A party wouldn’t be complete with out Snacks and Drinks. But Hey! Its Halloween so spook things up a bit by putting fake eyeballs in a punch bowl, or spiders in the ice cubes. There are so many things you can do to give your evening that edge, eBay is brilliant for things like fake syringes for Jello shots. If you’re doing things a bit last minute like myself then just have a rummage in your kids/younger siblings dress up box for that pretend medical kit…Check out my Pinterest for spooky snacks.

Check List

Lists are your friends. I love a good list, I keep a list of all the things I still need to do before the big night and prioritise the items and fingers crossed I should be able to make everything come together without running around like nearly headless nick.

I’m super excited to see everyone’s outfits on Saturday as friends, fancy dress, good music and alcohol is all you need to make an awesome evening. I’ll be sure to take loads of pictures so be sure to check them out on my Instagram.

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Let me know if you’re planning a Halloween party, I’d love to know your tips and tricks.

Ta-ra for now
