H A P P Y N E W Y E A R !!
As much as 2016 for some people hasn’t been the greatest, certainly not in the world of celebrities and politics but in the world of Holly it was pretty dam good. Started the year off in New Zealand and ended it in Budapest. 2016 for me was one of my most productive years yet, so I thought I would share why 2016 for me was pretty god dam awesome, a little Holly story if you like.
As I mentioned, my year began in New Zealand with one side of my family who I hardly get to see as they live so far away so this was already going to be an amazing holiday. I was able to do some insane things like bunjy jumping, water rafting, caving not to mention tick off one thing off my bucket list, sky diving! Not only did I get to do some incredible things I met some pretty awesome people too, caught up with old friends and spent some much needed quality time with my family. So you can see that my year was off to a pretty good start.
January 2016 was a pretty good month for me as not only was I in an amazing country living life to the full but I also found out that Jacks sister would be expecting a baby! Yes, yes I cried and shhh but so did Jack. We had just rung Jacks family to wish them a happy new year and just two minutes after getting off the phone they face-timed us back to tell us the exciting news. Aimee (Jacks sister) and Billy (her husband) have an amazing love story, that I hope I will be able to share with you all at some point, it will melt your heart. I couldn’t be more excited by Aimee and Billy’s news, two people so in love and so happy I couldn’t think of any two people better to bring a child into the world. I knew they would make a lovely family.
From one excitement to the next, Jack and I realised living at home just was not an option anymore, we have both experience too much independence and as much as we love our parents, living with them is just a whole other story, so we found our gorgeous little flat. I love living here and over the past 8 months Jack and I have made it our little humble abode. We have created some brilliant memories here including hosting our first party in October for Halloween which went surprisingly well, although my walls need a bit of TLC, just a little heads up face paint and white walls just don’t mix.
Shortly after we got back from New Zealand I started planning my birthday. When I turned 21 I realised that Birthdays are no longer as fun as they used to be. The best way to describe my 21st Birthday is like this, I once knew a little girl who was about to turn 3, she was so exciting for weeks and weeks running around singing “I’m gonna be three, I’m gonna be big girl” but just a couple of days before she was actually 3 she started to have more and more tantrums and get more and more cross at little things that wouldn’t usually effect her, then when that day finally came and she turned three she decided that she would be two again, she would say things like “I two not three”. This is exactly how I felt when I turned 21 so for me birthdays are no longer a joy, so I decided I wanted to leave the country or go away from my home for each birthday, this way I felt like I would avoid disappointment. So for my 22nd birthday I decided to take a trip to Venice. This place is truly beautiful, I love a city break where you spend most of the time walking round admiring the scenery then finding a quaint cafe to stop for coffee or a cheeky glass of wine, even though it is like 11am, who cares you’re on you holidays!
In 2016 I was lucky enough to welcome not just one gorgeous baby into my life but two. Whilst at the airport just finishing off our breakfast before getting ready to board the plane to jet off to Venice for my birthday I got a call from my lovely friend Lucy to say that her little bundle of joy had arrived, hello Charlie. This little boy is just gorgeous more ways then one and yes I’m probably biest but who cares, he’s brought so much joy into so many peoples lives especially his beautiful mummy. I couldn’t be happier for both Lucy and Ed who have brought this beautiful boy into the world and created such a happy home for him to grow up in. I love being a part of his life and watching him grow, thanks to the world of technology I don’t miss a moment as Lucy’s always updating me with all of his milestones.
I have had many personal highlights too. How could I speak about 2016 with out including the bad ass little space of mine, thats right I started my blog in the gorgeous month that is July, July the 8th to be precise. I love writing this beauty and constantly building on it. Not only has this been an outlet for me to speak freely about pretty much anything and everything that enters my mind but also for me to exert my creativity. I have met some brilliant people through blogging and it has opened more opportunities for me then I ever thought it would. I can’t wait to share all my ideas I have for this beauty in 2017 with you all.
Hello August, and hello baby Percy. Thats right, 8/9 months went pretty darn quickly! Aimee and Billy welcomed baby Percy to the world, before long he had met pretty much everyone in the family, for a 1 week old that ALOT of people to meet, but in true Percy style he lapped it up. I feel so lucky to be able to see him most weeks and watch Aimee become an amazing mother, I mean everyone who knows Aimee always knew that she would take to being a mother like a duck to water but being a part of it all makes me feel so lucky. Billy is a great Daddy too, wanting to be a part of every moment, looking into every development milestone and sharing his great talent of creating music with him, making Percy’s eyes light up every time. I love being a part of their beautiful family.
The year of 2016 not only brought me travel, new friends, a huge welcome to the blogging world and beautiful babies, but also new job roles. I started a new side project, yes ok you could defiantly call blogging a side job, but I also set up my own business. I have loved every minute of it, I get to help others, be creative and earn an extra few £££ on the side, which helps hugely with the pressure of renting, paying bills and trying to not be a hermit my whole life. I think the best thing about my new business is that I’m part of an amazing team, everyone is so supportive of each other and encouraging.
To finish the year off Jack and good friends Hannah and Dean jetted off to Budapest for NYE. What a way to finish off the year, then to celebrate in the city of Budapest. Despite having to hobble around on crutches the whole trip it was pretty amazing. We booked an apartment which was HUGE, Hannah is a little travel genius and always finds the most amazing places to go and stay for as little as possible. Starting our trip off by wondering into a Christmas market, I sweat European countries do Christmas way better then we do, then ending the day with a few bevies in yep, classic Brits, go away to a gorgeous country and end up in a British pub. We celebrated NYE on dinner boat which sailed, is that the right word, anyway sailed around the river Danube whilst eating a lovely three course meal being entertained by traditional Hungarian dancers and some beautiful live music. Oh and how could I forget the open bar ALL night long!
I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for me. I can already tell its going to be a good-en, lots more travel plans, lots more blogging and maybe some exciting surprises too. EEEEKK!!!
Would love to know what your best moments of 2016 were and what your plans are for 2017.
